BRC Leadership Series

Great workspaces start with great leadership. In our Leadership Series, we’re sitting down with the people behind BRC to share the values, lessons, and ideas that drive how we design, build, and deliver office furniture solutions. Next in the series is Steve Bellamy, Vice President of Sales. From building a Sales Team grounded in accountability and trust to nurturing long-term partnerships across North America, Steve shares what he looks for when hiring, why he coaches his Team to sell solutions rather than furniture, and why he believes “trust is built in the small moments.”

BRC’s Sales Team is at the heart of the business. How would you describe the culture you’ve built, and what makes this Team unique?

Our culture is built on accountability, collaboration, and strong relationships. The Team is competitive and driven, but always willing to support each other. What makes us unique is that balance of individual ownership and Team-first mindset, with a strong focus on being dependable partners to our dealers and clients.

What do you look for when building a high-performing Sales Team in a business like ours?

I look for attitude and character first. Skills can be taught, but motivation, resilience, and relationship-building are critical. We need people who can manage long Sales cycles, handle complex projects, and take ownership while contributing to the Team.

In our industry, relationships are everything. How does your Team approach building long-term partnerships versus short-term wins?

We focus on long-term partnerships built on trust and consistency. That means understanding our clients’ businesses, being responsive, and working through challenges together. The strongest relationships are built over time, especially during difficult moments.

What do you think is the key to earning and maintaining trust with clients, especially in large or complex projects?

Consistency and honesty. It comes down to clear communication, realistic expectations, and follow-through. Trust is built in the small moments — through responsiveness, accuracy, and accountability.

Customization is a major differentiator for BRC. How do you coach your Team to sell solutions rather than just products?

We focus on understanding the client’s needs before talking about products. By asking the right questions, the Team can position solutions that truly solve problems and create value rather than just selling furniture.

How do you strike the right balance between offering highly customized furniture solutions and maintaining efficiency in the Sales process?

It comes down to discipline and communication. We stay flexible for the customer while aligning early with design, engineering, and operations to ensure solutions are both impactful and efficient to deliver.

What’s your approach to ensuring the Team truly understands a client’s vision before proposing a solution?

Listening is key. We encourage the Team to slow down, ask more questions, and collaborate closely with all stakeholders. The better we understand the vision upfront, the stronger the solution.

How do you keep your Team motivated and aligned, especially during challenging Sales cycles or slower periods?

We focus on what we can control — activity, relationships, and pipeline. We create a supportive environment, recognize effort, and stay consistent. Momentum comes from staying proactive and positive.

How would you describe your leadership style, and how has it evolved over time?

Collaborative, supportive, and accountable. Over time, I’ve learned the importance of investing in people, building trust, and helping individuals grow while maintaining high standards.

What excites you most about the future of BRC’s Sales organization, and where do you see the biggest opportunities for growth?

The opportunity to grow our presence and strengthen partnerships across North America. As customers look for more flexibility and tailored solutions, we are well positioned. Building a strong Team will continue to be a key driver of that growth.
